With the growing development of the foreign trade sector in the 1990s here in Brazil, there was a need to use a computerized tool to facilitate the progress of processes in this area. That’s when Siscomex was born. Read on to find out more about its importance and other details.

What is it?

Siscomex stands for Integrated Foreign Trade System. Managed by the Central Bank of Brazil, the Federal Revenue Service and the Foreign Trade Secretariat, the portal provides access to a system for registering, monitoring and controlling foreign trade operations, as well as being able to consult legislation, acquire authorizations, licenses and certifications. All actions carried out, whether import or export, go through the system. In this way, the government is able to have an overview of these movements throughout the country.

Since its creation, the system has undergone several changes. The government is currently developing a single portal for Siscomex, with the aim of reducing bureaucracy and facilitating the processes carried out through the portal.

What are the advantages of using the system?

With Siscomex, all the bureaucracy can be easily controlled. It also

  • It is integrated with the electronic invoice;
  • Scans documents;
  • Monitoring all stages of transactions;
  • Database creation;
  • Reducing bureaucracy.
Enabling Siscomex

Qualification is done through a rigorous application for registration with the Receita Federal. There are currently four types of authorization:

  1. Ordinary – for legal entities that frequently engage in foreign trade;
  2. Simplified – for individuals, public companies or non-profit organizations;
  3. Special – for direct public administration bodies, municipalities and public foundations;
  4. Restricted – for individuals or legal entities that have already operated in foreign trade, exclusively for making inquiries or rectifications.
How important is it for foreign trade?

Siscomex acts as a facilitator in foreign trade processes, integrating the information needed for transactions to be agile and transparent. This helps companies and inspection bodies to have more autonomy and control over all procedures, reduces administrative costs and reduces the volume of documents. With this, it is possible to say that Brazil is at the same level of international trade control as developed countries, which makes it more competitive in the market.

It is essential to rely on companies trained to work with Siscomex when carrying out an import or export process for your company. At SUPERIA, our team of specialists has extensive experience in using the system, guaranteeing more assertiveness and security in foreign trade processes.
